Page Title | Who We Are

Our Mission

Providing opportunity and improving the lives of underprivileged children and families in our community and around the world.

Our Vision

At Get Together Foundation, we believe that every child deserves access to opportunities and resources necessary to thrive. Applying the Wachs Family’s passions for music, education, and mental + physical health, we aim to empower our youth and help pave the path to success for our community’s next generation. We know that together, WE C.A.N. (Citizen Activism Now) make a difference and change the tune for the future.

Our “Why”

Hi, we’re Kevin and Mare Wachs, and thanks for supporting our family’s 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Get Together Foundation (GTF). Inspired by the outpouring of those wanting to give back in the wake of the September 11th, 2001 attacks, we quickly grew frustrated and saddened by the countless organizations applying mere pennies of donations raised to the cause at hand. It was then that we founded GTF to act as a bridge between donor and charity, and did so by vetting and selecting charities that operate on a volunteer basis (minimal extraneous expenses and overhead costs), organizing benefit concerts and community events to fundraise on their behalf, and ensuring our donors that 100% of their hard-earned dollars were being applied to the intended cause.

Our Growth

Family for Families

In 2017, we launched the first of our own non-profit programs to help with the ever-growing Homelessness Crisis in our community, Los Angeles County’s San Fernando Valley. Natives to the Valley and proud parents of our two wonderful boys, we simply could not ignore the many children and families suffering in our own backyard, and felt compelled to do everything in our power to help our neighbors in need. Staying true to our grant-making past while embracing our new “hands-on” programmatic approach, we began partnering with local shelters, churches, missions, businesses and social service organizations to amplify our reach and deepen our impact. Our combined efforts enable us to make a difference in our community and better the lives of children and families living in our local low-income and underrepresented neighborhoods.

Get Together Foundation Now

Today, we are proud to house the many families living in our partnered 48-bed Bridge Housing facility with Hope of the Valley, and to provide thousands of hot, nutritious meals each year to families living in shelters, motel districts, public parking lots and encampments. We will soon be launching our Music Enrichment Program to engage our vulnerable youth in extracurricular and educational activities in the arts, and will be opening Get Together at Home Again, our state-of-the-art Child Care facility and Mentor Program for the kids of single-parent professionals living in San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission’s flagship family shelter.
